Benefits Process

New Students

It is your responsibility to contact the Office of Veterans Affairs and make arrangements to meet with us prior to the beginning of your first semester. Please bring a copy of your DD214 to the initial meeting. All other paperwork, if required, will be provided by the Veterans Affairs Benefits office.

Transfer Students

It is your responsibility to contact the Office of Veterans Affairs and make arrangements to meet with us prior to the beginning of your first semester. Please bring a copy of your DD214 to the initial meeting. Additionally, it would be helpful if you would provide us with copies of academic transcripts from previous schools. Transfer students will also be required, depending on what benefits they receive, to complete a VA Form 22-1995.

Ongoing and Returning Students

It is your responsibility to contact the Office of Veterans Affairs and make arrangements to meet with us prior to the beginning of every semester. This meeting is required to ensure the continuing use of your benefits. If you do not meet with us you will not be certified for that particular semester.

Veteran Students Responsibilities

• Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid when you are applying for VA educational benefits. If you are applying for Title IV funds, you must include your GI Bill^庐 Benefits on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Failure to provide your GI Bill庐 Benefits on the FAFSA application may cause adjustments to your award and possibly a bill back of resources received.
• Plan to pay for your tuition and fees by the due date.
• Report immediately to the VA Office; changes of major, change in hours (drops or increases), change of address, withdrawal from school, and graduation.
• Monitor your curriculum with your academic advisor. Classes not applicable to your degree will not be covered by Veterans Affairs.
• Verify your attendance on the last day of each month, if you are Chapter 30, 1606 (Reserve or National Guard) or 1607 (REAP).  A check will not be generated for you by VA unless this takes place. To certify your verification for enrollment go to the web site or call  1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551).

Veteran Educational Entitlements

You are considered if:

• You engaged in active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
• You were a member of the National Guard or Reserves who was called to active duty for purposes other than training.

You are not considered if:

• You never engaged in active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
• You are currently an ROTC student, cadet, or midshipman at a service academy.
• You are a National Guard or Reserves enlistee activated only for training.
